ABOUT THE TEACHER
MEET THE TEACHER - Jennie Boose
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University
of Toledo. My areas of concentration were Language Arts, Social Studies
and Art. While teaching in the Toledo Public Schools, I completed my Master’s
Degree in Education, also at the University of Toledo. I taught all subjects
in a self-contained classroom for grades 2 and 3. I also taught art in
an after-school program for children in grades 4, 5, and 6. After teaching
in the classroom for 8 years, I taught children in grades K-5 who were
homebound due to surgeries, accidental injuries, or disabilities.
I enjoyed being a “staying-at-home” mom while raising three
children, and teaching on Saturdays in the Enrichment Program for Children
offered by the University of Toledo. I taught a variety of art and science
classes for children in the elementary grades.
My husband, children, and I moved to the Romeo area in 1994. I was a
very active parent volunteer in all of the Romeo Community Schools that
our children attended. All three of our children have graduated with honors
from Romeo High School. Our older daughter and son have both graduated
from Oakland University and work in the areas of biology and engineering.
Our younger daughter is currently a flute performance major at Oakland
University.
Before opening Little Leaf Learning Center, I provided instruction for
homebound children in the Romeo School District and did substitute teaching
in Romeo, Oxford and Kingsbury Schools. I was the “Junior Great
Books” leader for the accelerated readers in Romeo’s Hamilton
Parsons elementary School and taught various classes in their Project
Discovery Program for young children.
From the fall of 1999 until the spring of 200l, I taught at Children’s
House Montessori School in Addison Township. There I enjoyed working in
the preschool and kindergarten classrooms. I was the art teacher for all
of the children in the school, providing the instruction for toddlers,
preschoolers, and kindergartners.
Additional positions I have held that gave me the opportunity to work
with children include “Clue-Me-In” Reading Program Leader,
Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Sunday School and
Vacation Bible School Teacher.
I currently hold a Michigan Elementary K-8 Teaching Certificate. I am
certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and First Aid. I am licensed
by the state of Michigan to operate this center in my home and am registered
in Oakland and Macomb counties. I will gladly furnish references upon
request.
